Tom has been affiliated with the Firm since its inception in 1983 and is currently Of Counsel. He received his B.B.A. from Washburn University of Topeka in 1970 and his J.D. degree from Washburn’s School of Law in 1975. For 28 years Tom worked for the Kansas Department of Labor as an Administrative Law Judge and then as Chief of Appeals. In 2001, Tom received recognition on the National Registry of Who’s Who for his public service work. He retired from government service in 2005.
Tom’s practice is devoted exclusively to the probate area, with an emphasis on mental health law. He serves as a guardian, conservator, curator and payee for numerous disabled individuals, most of whom are veterans. Tom is a member of the Topeka Bar Association (TBA) and Kansas Bar Association (KBA), actively serving as the Administrative and Government Law Liaison to the KBA’s Legislative Committee while he was employed by the State of Kansas, and he currently serves on the TBA’s Probate and Elder Law Committees. In 2006, Tom received the KBA’s Pro Bono Award.
